After Me

Puffy eyes, broken heart and a forced smile,
This is my last memory of you.
I saw you breakdown, as I left forever.
Wish, I could have stayed a bit longer,
to console you.
While you shed your tears for me,
I wanted to hold you.

I apologize for the promises
that I have left behind, unfulfilled.
Now that I am gone,
I want you to stay strong and chase your dreams.
You were not alone and never will be,
I won’t be by your side,
But I know you will remember me.

Find me in the stories I narrated,
In the books, that you thought were too overrated.
Hear my old school songs with smile,
Wear your favourite cap with pride.
And yes, do always remember
To water the rose, we planted together.

You are like the rose,
 so lively and beautiful,
Yes you have brightened my life
With your lovely soul and sweetest smile.
Now that I am gone,
My heart aches to see you so lonely
Don’t be afraid to fall in love again.
Oh love, live your life boldly.
Just Live!!

  1. lol, is it inspired by Will's letter from the book, "Me Before You"?

  2. Why don't you try something inspired from Yuval Harari or Dan Brown books you read. Would love to read it. All these subjective emotion ridden poems have hightened your selection of words, why not take it to the next notch and write on wider themes. The dualism or the binary contradiction which you attempted here have more scope in themes religion vs science, nationalism vs humanism, discrimination vs political correctness...You can give a subjective touch to each of these.
